All right, so you already know who this is for the three of you in the whole Auto Industry of that industry that don't this is the one and only Glenn Lundy we just bumped into each other when it's just good to be with you.
Glenn Lundy: 0:14
I mean, it's always amazing. How about this bro? Dallas, no debauchery? No. I don't know if that's true. Alone, naked people in tin tin cans running around. It's a total different vibe this year
Paul Daly: 0:26
You me last year?!
Glenn Lundy: 0:27
I did. I saw you and Kyle out there with your pom poms and all that good stuff. No, this is amazing. It's amazing being here.
Paul Daly: 0:33
Dallas is definitely great. We saw Mike Stanton earlier, NADA president and he said, booked out for 40,000 rooms. They booked out in Dallas 40,000 rooms I stress out about like 13.
Glenn Lundy: 0:45
So how many? How many? So how many people do you say how many people are here?
Paul Daly: 0:49
There's probably about that, including family and guests. Yeah, um, he said registrations and attendance is definitely up. So I don't know. But they had a plan this five years ago. Wow.
Glenn Lundy: 0:58
Well, it's amazing, man. I'm super stoked for the energy of automotive. I think everybody's ready. I think we're like, okay, we need to get back to learning phase and get back to work. I think it was quite the party last couple years.
Paul Daly: 1:10
It sure was. Alright, let me ask you one question. You're just involved with a lot of Dealers all across the country, what seems to be a common theme of focus for Dealers heading into 2023.
Glenn Lundy: 1:21
Obviously, inventory acquisition is huge. We still can't control what's going on in the new car side. Right? It seems to come in, in waves ebbs and flows, we're up while we're at about 50% inventory wise, where we were 2019. We're still down, we're a little bit better. But we still don't have control. And so I'm hearing a lot of Dealers are trying to figure out inventory acquisition on the used car side, what does that really look like? And then there's of course, there's the conversations of how do we get our people to learn what it is to actually sell cars? Versus a lot of them? Haven't? You know, they've been in the business two years or less. They don't know what a real market looks like.
Paul Daly: 1:58
And hearing that over and over and over is anecdotal story about a Dealer said to me, one of his salespeople came in to his office looking kind of stressed out. And he said to me, he's like, they just said they have to go home and talk to their spouse. What am I supposed to do with that? They've never heard that objection before.
Glenn Lundy: 2:13
Right? Totally man. So it's time to get back to the to the basics. And that's what I love about this industry. We're so incredibly resilient. Technology changes, strategies change, an economy changes, but the principles have been the same for well, you and I know for 2000 Yes, years, the principles have been the same of how this works. And so it's nice that everybody's going okay, what are the basic principles of how we sell cars? Let's get back to that. And I think we got a bright future for the majority of those that are willing to put
Paul Daly: 2:42
I liked that I liked how you put that okay, if you're in the work. gonna leave everybody with just one word, you get one word, to kind of filter everything through for 2023. Which word are you going to give them.
Glenn Lundy: 2:52
Volume. If I only get one word, volume.
Paul Daly: 2:55
There you go. I would expect nothing less Glenn Lundy have an awesome show my friend.
