Stellantis is showing off a new electric 250-mile range Jeep Avenger and a new energy self-sufficiency target. To stay competitive against legacy OEMs and startups like Tesla, the company is investing toward 50% energy self-sufficiency by 2025.
“This was your idea.” Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares sees possible recession, cost of living, inflation, and energy prices as roadblocks to the company's goals. He says since the EU's leadership set the timeline for banning ICE, addressing these economic setbacks falls first to them.
He called lawmakers to more pragmatism and less dogmatism in the future and asked to continue talking about the 2035 ban on ICE vehicles.
