Eurovision, an international European singing contest, announced Russian contestants may not compete in the 2022 season of the show. The news comes as a reversal of a previous statement after Russian troops officially invaded Ukraine.
The European Broadcasting Union released a statement reporting and explaining their decision. "The decision reflects concern that, in light of the unprecedented crisis in Ukraine, the inclusion of a Russian entry in this year's Contest would bring the competition into disrepute."
A petition filed by Ukraine requested barring Russia from the show and removing all Russian media from the association.
