Fort Worth city council leaders unanimously approved a bitcoin mining operation using machines donated by the Texas Blockchain Council. The program will use three S9 mining machines 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The city estimates energy consumption compared to a household vacuum for each device, generating about $0.78/ea a day in cryptocurrency.
Moving forward. Lawmakers will evaluate the program in 6 months. Proponents of the plan say they have been considering the future of their economy since the financial crisis in 2008.
