Ford is Betting on Dealers

Ford CEO Jim Farley is dividing up company operations. The shift aims to make the 118-year-old company more competitive against new EV competitors in the industry such as Tesla. In addition to the new approach to the business, Farley shared Ford is "Committed to the dealer model" and that Dealers will play an essential role in beating Tesla in customer experience.

Divide and conquer?

  • Under CEO Ted Cannis, Ford Pro will maintain the existing commercial arm: distributing, selling, hardware, and software solutions for dealers.
  • Under Kumar Golhotra, Ford Blue will handle the traditional ICE business.
  • Under Jim Farley, Ford Model e will deal with EVs.

Farley went on to say that the company is not simply keeping dealers "in the mix for the moment," Ford is "betting on dealers for the long term."

Telling it like it is - A bet on dealers ain't even a gamble, it's an investment.
