According to a new draft, lawmakers seek to regulate crypto-assets in the EU by enforcing environmental sustainability standards and requiring a phased rollout plan to ensure compliance. To meet such requirements, some existing crypto currencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum would have to be phased out and converted to a less energy-intensive process.
