Crypto Thieves Use Elon Musk to Fool Thousands

Scammers and cyber-criminals have really out-done themselves over the last week. In addition to the CDK outage, a rise in deepfakes featuring Elon Musk are fooling thousands on YouTube.

The videos look like a legit Tesla event with “Musk" promising free crypto to viewers who deposit their Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Dogecoin into “his” digital account.

Over 30,000 people have been duped by the fake videos and despite YouTube’s crack-down, hackers can make off with millions in mere minutes.

These scams highlight just how crafty cybercriminals are becoming, so it’s important to stay vigilant, especially when it comes to handing over your hard-earned dough. The takeaway? If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
