Companies are pressing forward through raw material shortages. Individual companies, partnerships, and Joint ventures are breaking ground on battery plants looking toward the production capacity needed for an eventual transition away from ICE.
Roman holiday. Jeep maker Stellantis and Mercedes are partnering to construct a battery plant in Italy. Rome pledged $407M in public funds to the venture.
Back across the pond. Stellantis has also struck a deal with LG to plan a battery plant in Canada with eyes on an additional site in the US.
Running with the bulls. VW announced this week a battery plant in Spain. The plant will produce 40 gigawatt-hours a year, employ 3,000 workers, and begin operations in 2026.
