Last week David Long and the All Things Used Cars crew were joined by Andy Elliot to talk about building an unstoppable sales team. Good friends and new voices alike asked questions and shared their own experiences with leadership. Of course, our personal leadership hero, Liza Borches, was there and left us with plenty to write down. Check out our notes from Liza below, and listen to the full replay on Clubhouse.
The right people, in the right places. Anyone can be inspired, but inspiration only carries somebody as far as their hunger, humility, and smarts can reach.
- Hunger. As leaders, we’re here to help people get where they want to go, so we need to know what they want. Do they personally want to live up to the opportunity they have?
- Humility. Loving cars is a bonus, but loving people and genuinely wanting to serve them in meaningful relationships is a must. Do they know serving is the actual path forward?
- Smarts. We must collect dots before we can connect the dots! Early on, we have to personally, along with leadership, help employees connect the dots. Are we making it easy to connect their work to the bigger picture?
Too often, training is focused only on the front of the house. Equipping sales, managers, service, etc., for success starts with the ongoing training of every leader in your company.
