Alternatives to traditional relief, such as cryptocurrency, are common in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Since the invasion of Ukraine began, people have booked 61,000 nights in Ukrainian homes through Airbnb. The funds collected become available to hosts despite guests never staying in the room.
Monday, Airbnb announced it would offer short-term housing to 100,000 refugees fleeing Ukraine. In the past, Airbnb provided similar relief to more than 54,000 refugees and started a refugee fund to continue to support the initiative.
