A Little Less Aviation, A Little More Traction

After decades of rusting away in the New Mexican sun, a 1962 Lockheed Jetstar previously owned by Elvis Presley has found new life thanks to aircraft restorer and content creator, Jimmy Webb.

Known for his YouTube channel, Jimmy’s World, Webb turned the forgotten jet into a retro camper complete with much of the vintage interior including the red velvet upholstery and even some of the original appliances.

When Webb discovered the aircraft, it had no engines and missing cockpit controls which made it unfit for flight. Undeterred, he bought it for $260K and decided to repurpose it. The transformation involved chopping off the tail, removing the wings, and mounting the fuselage onto a motorhome chassis.

He replaced the old controls with RV-friendly ones to make it drivable but kept the existing flight deck to maintain that old-school jet feel.

The revamped motorhome is set to formally debut at the 2024 EAA AirVenture Oshkosh next week in Wisconsin. 🛩️
